The Gestaçô swimming pool is part of a wider intervention in the outdoor spaces of a country house set in the sloping terrain of the Douro region. The steep topography led to the creation of a series of terraced platforms, each with a distinct function and spatial identity.
The swimming pool was located on one of these platforms, positioned at a higher level and facing east, south and west, opening up to wide views of the landscape while maintaining a relationship with the surrounding topography.

Geometry was the starting point for this project, with a rectangular design in plan and regularisation that differed from the organic design of the existing terrain.

The selection of materials played a crucial role in integrating the new intervention with the existing site. The interior of the pool is finished in an emerald blue colour, offering a chromatic contrast with the warm travertine flooring. The granite of the guides - a traditional material from the region - is used as a guiding element, marking the transitions between the circulation and leisure areas, and precisely framing the delimitation of the pool area.
